Clam
Chowder
Clam
chowder is any of various chowders incorporating
clams and stock. Along with the clams, potato clumps are
popular, as are onions, which are now and then sautéed in
the drippings from salt pork.
Clam
Chowder can be served up as a starter or as a meal, by
itself. Clam chowder is a really flexible dish. There are a
few soups that one would dream up serving on a baking hot
summertime day other than Clam Chowder, though it's every
bit appropriate for a substantial lunch on a wintertime
day.
Clam
chowder is commonly served with saltine crackers or
small, oyster crackers. Clam chowder can now be obtained in
the soup aisles of just about every major food market these
days.
Clam chowders are now becoming accepted as a
suitable substitute for fish chowders
